This is the most recommended dose of esomeprazole, which is considered to be a short-term treatment for reflux. If you feel better in 20 minutes, you can use esomeprazole 40 mg as a post-surgical treatment.

General Precautions

Before using this product, inform your doctor about any medical conditions you have, especially liver disease, hyperthyroidism, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are a smoker, avoid using this product. Avoid smoking cigarettes, heavy metals, alcohol consumption, and use a strong diuretic.

Nexium Capsules Dosage

Take one capsule (40 mg) by mouth with water 1 to 2 hours before or after taking Nexium, esomeprazole, or a proton pump inhibitor. The capsule should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed. If you have nausea, eat up to 3 times a day with the capsule. Do not take more than once per day. Swallow the capsule whole, with a full glass of water. Do not break, crush, or chew the capsule. Take the capsule with food at the same time daily. Do not take your Nexium 40 mg once daily. Keep the capsule out of the sight and reach of children and never share it with anyone.

Possible Side Effects

Nexium Capsules may cause stomach discomfort, bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, or dizziness. These symptoms are usually mild to moderate in severity and do not require medical attention. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor.
